Smoking Ban

Like many other cities across the state, the nation, and the world, the City of Hutchinson is considering upgrading the current smoking ordinance to a comprehensive clean indoor air ordinance that would ban smoking in all public and work places.  This ban would protect the employees of places that currently allow smoking.

Those who oppose the smoking ban make the case that this would hurt business in Hutchinson, especially bars.  However, cities such as Newton and Lawrence have experienced the opposite effect.  In fact, the smoking ban is boosting business.  Why?  Well, perhaps it’s the 80% of non-smokers out there that have decided to start going places because they can breathe clean air.
